So, spring is here, flowers are more and more in bloom and everything in nature is waking up! So you can presume that this month’s ideas will be flowery, colorful and fun.
All of the April Bullet journal theme ideas I present you here are my own drawings, although the ideas are not always mine. I’ll share the link to the appropriate author – I don’t wanna take the credit!
I’m drawing everything myself to show you that YOU TOO can make a beautiful cover page and it doesn’t have to be complicated to be beautiful! Find the beauty in the simple things and do whatever feels right for you!

I really wanted o do something simple – really simple – to make but so it doesn’t look too bland. And I found this beautiful thank-you card and decided to use it as an April cover page. Of course, you can always choose some other colors but I really liked this pink combination – it’s very spring-like.
2. Alien abduction
When I saw this picture on Pinterest I knew I had to use it sometime as a Bullet journal theme idea. Since most of the world is in quarantine at this point and many are preparing themselves for isolation and social distancing due to coronavirus pandemic, there is a feeling like our normal lives have been abducted, hence the alien abduction of April 🙂 I think it’s super cute!
Yes, I know I had daisies as an idea for a March Bullet journal theme but daisies are actually more connected with April so I repeat them this month. And daisies are super cute and really easy to make so they seem like a perfect idea for ANY month theme. This idea came from Tea&Twigs.
4. Flowers all around
How beautiful is this idea? I know, right?! @aaraujo.art is the brains behind this beautiful idea. These flowers and greenery really aren’t complicated to draw. They are really simple and anyway you make them they will look beautiful. It’s a perfect April Bullet journal theme idea.
5. Rainy clouds
Well, we can’t have beautiful flowers without some rain. Hence, a little rain cloud 🙂 This little rain cloud came from karamellkastanie.de. The first time I saw this I really loved it because those big raindrops look like gems. Well, kind of 🙂 I really like how simple it is to make and it looks amazing!
Under my umbrella-ella-ella-e-e-e 🙂 So, while we’re talking about April showers, you can’t forget about umbrellas! What I realized doing this theme I found on Instagram by @ip_bujo, is that I honestly don’t know how to draw an umbrella! I think it took me at least ten sketches until I finally made one that looks almost okay 🙂 So – it’s a bit harder this one, but with a little practice you can make it, too. It sure does look cute!
7. Comic book
So, the idea behind this was in this Bang! I saw on Pinterest. I love those comic book letters and I think it can be an amazing idea to make any month of the year. It is really easy and simple to make and looks wow!
8. Happy camper
Hopefully, this spring we’ll have a chance to enjoy the outdoors and be in nature. That was the idea behind this April Bullet journal theme idea – getting out in nature, enjoying the little things in life, sharing the love. You know, like hippies 🙂 I didn’t know how to draw a camper but there’s a YouTube tutorial on how to make a camper for kids – I highly recommend 🙂
9. The twenties
The new twenties have just begun so if you’re planning to use an Art Deco/The Great Gatsby/the Twenties idea throughout the year, here is my April Bullet journal theme idea. I love how simple and geometrical is this cover page. It’s quite quickly done and looks amazing – especially if you do it with a gold gel pen, as I did 🙂
My choice for an April Bullet journal theme this year is Easter. This is an idea that is really easy to make and if you have kids, you can even include them – let them color the eggs! I used these colorful eggs throughout the month so my monthly spread and my weekly spreads all have a lot of color on them. I really love it because it’s so cheerful and there is no “wrong” drawing – everything you choose to make will look great.
So, what is your choice for the April Bullet journal theme? You can share with me in the comments or use a #monthlyuglyjournal on Instagram, where you can also check my other ideas.
