So, you want your journal to be beautiful, full of colors, patterns and images, and to overall be very artistic, but you couldn’t draw a stick man if your life depended on it? Well, let me tell you a story about the ultimate tool for the non-creative soul – the wrapping paper!

For those of us who are less fortunate and couldn’t find an artistic bone in our bodies, there is a perfect solution to creating a fabulous journal! The idea of using wrapping paper for journaling didn’t cross my mind until recently (although I have been using it before). After last Christmas holidays, as I was in pursuit for a birthday present, I came across a big basket full of wrapping paper on sale. The price was reduced to only 10 cents and the best part was that they weren’t all for Christmas! I don’t have to tell you that I left the store with wrapping paper in each design and without the birthday present…
When I showed up at home with those papers in my arms my husband just sighed. “You can never have too much wrapping paper”, I told him. But I could see that he was a bit worried what will we do with some much paper and I must admit, I was somewhat worried myself if buying all that was a smart move. Then it hit me! Journaling!
I am writing a blog about journaling and helping people who lack creative skills and I didn’t think about the most versatile aid you can have on your journaling journey. So, here it is!
I simply love wrapping paper. So many colorful designs, you can choose a theme you want and it’s really not expensive – you really get a lot for your money. I love having lots of wrapping papers at home not just for wrapping presents but also so I can choose any color and design for my journal depending on my current mood and depending on what I am writing about.
The beauty of wrapping paper, not just because of the design and colors and the price, it’s really about simplicity. You choose the one you like, cut it out, glue it in and that’s it! You don’t need anything else. Of course, I sometimes combine it with some washi tape or maybe add some stickers. But you really don’t need anything else.
